Let There Be Light

Dunshah P. Ghadiali (1873-1966) was an early color therapy practitioner. He worked with a device which he called the Spectro-Chrome where he shined a light bulb through different colored filters. His research and experiments indicated that the body could be adjusted from disease to health by exposing it to color. Today the medical community uses this concept to treat Bilirubin Symdrome (jauntice) in newborns by exposing the infant to blue light.

Dinshah called his treatment "tonation." An alphabetized list of 400 disorders is included. The list is then expanded to explain the colors to use and the area where the colors would be applied. A chart diagramming those areas is included.

The last chapter has instructions for easily constructing your own device which functions like a genuine Spectro-Chrome machine.

An Introduction to Colour Energy Booklet

In this 18 page booklet, Inger Naess has an overview of the how and why behind color therapy, including the theory behind it. She explains color therapy vibration. Color is really light split into different wave lengths which vibrate at different speeds and frequencies.

Colors are really wave lengths of energy. Colors appear because an object will either reflect or absorb different wavelengths. A white object reflects all colors and absorbs none whereas black objects absorb all colors and reflect none. A red object absorbs all colors except red.

Our body has seven energy centers. If these energy centers become out of balance, we may become ill or our emotions may be affected. Each color has a corresponding energy center. That color can be used to bring it back into balance.

In her booklet, Inger Naess discusses each color and its associations, area it may help and when to use it.

The color frequency was determined using the scientific law of octaves. Light and sound are both frequencies, although different kinds of waves. If we could extend the notes of a piano up 49 octaves from middle C, the frequency of C in that octave would be the same as the frequency of green. F# would be the same as red. The other note frequencies would correspond to the frequencies of the other colors.

Just as the note of middle C is in harmony with the note of C one octave higher, the color green is in harmony with the note of C since, at the 49th octave above middle C, it is the same frequency. F# is in harmony with the color red for the same reason. The twelve notes of the octave are displayed in this chart with their corresponding colors.

It is fascinating to note that the colors in the Therapeutic Color Sound Wheel (see below) are just the opposite.

The Therapeutic Color Chart is useful in helping bring balance to an area of the body. If by the use of sound therapy it is determined that a person is low or high in a particular note, they may use the corresponding therapeutic color to help bring back balance.

Sometimes it is difficult to determine if an area which scores high indicates a deficiency or an excess. As an illustration, with hair analysis, a person may score high in calcium. That does not necessarily mean that they have an excess of calcium in their body. If a blood test indicates a lack of calcium, the calcium in the hair may indicate that the body is not able to absorb it and is excreting it into the hair, thus giving the high score.

It is fascinating to note that the colors in the Scientific Color Sound Wheel (see above) are just the opposite.

Color Therapy Information

We naturally associate colors with emotions and feelings. We say, "I'm green with envy," or "I see red!" or "You're yellow bellied," or "I'm feeling blue," or "I'm in a black mood." With color therapy, each color is associated with particular emotions and feelings. Read about color therapy.

Each color has a unique frequency and vibration. When a particular color frequency enters the body, by wearing color glasses, for example, that vibration can have an effect on us. It is easy to become out of balance. The appropriate color may allow our feelings and emotions to return to a balanced state and we'll feel better.
