Perfect Fifths Musical Scale

The Perfect Fifths Music Scale is one of the more interesting scales to study, however actually using it may be a bit difficult. It has been said that this scale was first utilized by Pythagoras of Samos around 600 BC.

The Pythagorean Comma

Thy Pythagorean Comma is the error in a scale between the "law of octaves" and successive applications of the perfect fifth, or 3/2 harmonic.

Non Octavated

Unlike most any other scale we are aware of, the Perfect Fifths Musical Scale does not correct for the Pythagorean Comma, making octaves of a certain note someone disharmonious. Instead the Perfect Fifths Scale has perfectly harmonious perfect fifths.

In the western equal tempered scale, the Pythagorean comma is split up between all twelve notes, making it essentially unnoticeable to anyone but especially acute musicians. In this scale, the Pythagorean comma is wholly uncorrected, making it sound disharmonious, even to the untrained ear. This explains why we believe many musicians would find it more difficult to play.
